Laura Lundegard- YT-200, PYT-85 Laura is a birth doula, and prenatal/postnatal yoga teacher based in Durham, NC. Laura began her birth work journey after working in maternal mental health research at the UNC Center for Women's Mood Disorders after 4 years. After hearing countless stories of birth trauma, and working with women that struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression, Laura decided that it was time to be on the front lines and dove headfirst into birth work. Laura completed her birth doula training with Homegrown Families in Asheville in 2022, and her prenatal/postnatal yoga teacher training with Alexandra DeSiato and Lauren Sacks in 2022. Laura has been a yoga teacher since 2020, and completed her RYT-200 at Franklin Street Yoga. Laura has gone on to pursue continuing education in doula work with INELDA, and also serves as a loss and end of life doula. Outside of birth work and teaching yoga, Laura is an avid rock climber and can often be found climbing at Triangle Rock Club. Laura lives in Durham with her partner Trey, their two cats, Maeve and Clementine, and their sweet pup Ryder.
Nicole Splenda, RN, LMBT #10525 Founder of ReBalance Placenta Encapsulation | Birth & Wellness Professional Nicole Splenda has been passionate about women's health since 1996. Her journey began as a licensed massage therapist specializing in prenatal and postpartum care, and soon expanded into doula work and midwifery training on the U.S.–Mexico border. It was there she first experienced the powerful benefits of placenta medicine.After earning her Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credentials, Nicole supported home births across California and Massachusetts. In 2003, while pregnant herself, she began nursing school—graduating in 2007 and eventually moving with her growing family to North Carolina.In 2008, she joined the Birth Center in Chapel Hill as a Registered Nurse, deepening her commitment to supporting women through every stage of their reproductive journey. That same year, Restoring Balance was born, offering massage therapy to birthing families.By 2013, Nicole became certified in placenta encapsulation through Full Circle and has provided this unique service to hundreds of families ever since. Her passion remains fueled by the incredible feedback and stories shared by the people she serves. In 2023, Nicole sold Restoring Balance and co-founded the Chapel Hill Massage Collective. In 2024, her placenta work was reborn as ReBalance Placenta Encapsulation—a continuation of her mission to nurture wellness through every phase of motherhood.
